On March 25, Chatham County and the Greenbriar Children's Center Board of Directors announced plans to renovate and re-open Greenbriar Childcare Center.
Greenbriar showcased its plans for the property at 3709 Hopkins St. at the event, which will include spaces designed to serve children and families in the community.
The first major initiative announced was the opening of Greenbriar Childcare Center, planned for 2026. This facility will provide quality childcare services to children 6 weeks to 4 years old, continuing Greenbriar's legacy of nurturing young minds and supporting families.
“We are thrilled to announce that construction will begin in April to transform this property into a vibrant, state of the art childcare and literacy center, an exciting venture inspired by all that we’ve learned over the last year,” Board of Directors President Dr. Connie Cooper said, “Most importantly, it reflects hope for the future of childcare literacy services on the Westside of Savannah.”
Through the partnership between Chatham County and Greenbriar's Board of Directors, Greenbriar Children’s Center will continue to serve the needs of children and families in Savannah.
“The One Chatham philosophy that we started back in January of 2021 as I became the Chairman is what you see today,” Ellis said. “It's not just the county commissioners, it's not just the senators at the state level or the state representatives, or the congressmen in DC or the senators in DC. It's a joint venture, hand-in-hand, to make this process a great success.”
