Chatham County’s Multi-Agency Public Safety Facility (MAPSF) reached a milestone in August as the highest structural piece of the building was put into place. Chatham County, officials celebrated the achievement with a topping-out ceremony and beam signing on Thursday, August 20.

Located at 654 Gulfstream Road near the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport and Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, the 83,000-square-foot MAPSF will bring several critical public safety services together under one roof.

The facility will house the Chatham Emergency Management Agency, Chatham County’s E-911 Center, the Airport’s Public Safety Department, and the Chatham County Non-Emergency Call Center creating a centralized hub for emergency response and coordination.

The facility is being built to withstand Category 5 hurricane conditions, ensuring it can remain operational during the most severe storms. The building will be equipped with redundant HVAC, sanitation, potable water, and power systems to allow for at least 72 hours of operation if primary systems fail.

This level of sustainability will allow public safety teams to continue serving residents when they are needed most.

The MAPSF building is expected to be complete in 2027.
